Arya Sasol Polymer Company

Arya Sasol History

The 9th Olefins complex

The 9th Olefins complex in the South Pars gas field, located in the port city of Assaluyeh, Iran's southwestern Bushehr Province, was among the first projects offered to be implemented by the private sector. The implementation of the 9th olefins plan was started by the Iranian Pars Petrochemical Complex in early 2000. In line with enforcement of the general policies of the Third Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2000-2005), when the S. African Sasol company expressed interest in investing in the 9th Olefins Complex, an MOU was inked between Iran's NPC and S. African Sasol Co. in 2002. Based on the agreement, the three unites of the complex (Olefins, LDPE, HDPE and MDPE) were separated from the Pars Petrochemical Co. and an independent complex under the name of "Arya Sasol company" was founded hoping to become the best producer of polymer in the Middle East.

It should be noted that before entering discussion with the S. African Sasol Co., Iran's NPC initially negotiated with British Petroleum (BP) in early 2002 which yield no results. In 2013, following the enforcement of the international sanctions against Iran, the S. African Company sold its share to the Pars Tamin Majd as the new shareholder of the company.
