ASPC Obtains Title of Exemplary National Exporter

The Arya Sasol Polymer Company (ASPC) has won the Exemplary National Exporter title during the 26th National Export Day conference, marking the sixth time the company has achieved the award.

The event was held on October 20th, 2022 in Tehran’s Leaders Summit Hall with the presence of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other senior state officials. A total number of 57 top exporting companies were honored during the ceremony. The ASPC received its title as being a top exporter of petrochemical and polymer-based products.

Commemorating National Export Day, Raisi referred to the slogan of the year, designated by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, as calling for a year of “production, knowledge-based and job creating” economy. “All efforts should aim for production, specifically the production of knowledge-based manufacturing and the production of base technologies. The universities should operate in tandem with the needs of industry, mining, agriculture and other fields of production. If our market, economy and production become knowledge and technology-based, we will witness the growth of added value, production, employment and the elimination of joblessness and the exportation of well-regarded goods to the region and the world.”

Raisi expressed his gratitude towards all those involved in production, specifically honoring exporting companies, saying that they have achieved much for the country despite all sanctions and threats. He added: “A 40% increase in exports in the past year and a 13% increase in non-oil exports during the current year demonstrate the determination of exporters and trade actors,” he said. He described the National Export Day event as an indicator of spotlight being given to export activity and companies. He went on to add that, “in such an event, it is natural for us to pay attention to export obstacles and to solutions to export growth and that – in this context – the views and input of exporters are more significant in all aspects”. Raisi stressed that any group seeking to remove export obstacles and achieve export growth should pay more attention to the views of exporters themselves. He added that: “exporters lead in such a field and that exports are undoubtedly necessary for sustainable production.”

The president underlined the role of quality enhancement in the improved marketing of manufactured goods and stated: “Profitability has to be accompanied with quality work. An increase in exports will lead to an increase in production and as a result, will lead to economic growth. Yet this cycle depends on the quality of production”.

Raisi added that with the aid of economic producers and trade actors, the Iranian nation will be triumphant in the war against sanctions just as it was victorious against Saddam’s imposed war on Iran. He added: “The officers of the sanctions war are the producers and exporters. They must strive to be triumphant in this war. Based on the admission of our enemies, they have disgracefully failed in applying the policy of maximum pressure against Iran and we have been successful. This path must be continued.”

Stating that the government should focus on relieving trade actors and producers of tiring regulation, the president alluded to the declared readiness of Iranian parliamentarians to amend certain laws such as foreign exchange obligations. “During my tenure in the Judiciary Ministry, I emphasized the need to improve the role and level of cooperation of exporters in the field of economic progress. Appropriate mechanisms should be established. We should not discredit the same exporter that we encourage today for failing to return his procured currency funds. This is not fair. We should instead create a mechanism examining the problem experienced by the exporter, examine why the currency does not return and try to solve the issue.” Emphasizing the necessity for export facilitation and obtaining required resources for foreign exchange, Raisi said: “The export of goods and the return of the resulting currency should have a proper and transparent mechanism. Everyone should seek to complete this mechanism”.

It should be noted that the Arya Sasol Polymer Company (ASPC) is one of the most reliable producers and exporters of ethylene and various grades of light, medium and heavy polyethylene in the country, exporting more than 80% of its polymer products to world markets. The ASPC has the highest long-term credit rating known in Iran’s economy and is a world-class competitive organization with stable profitability. Moreover, the ASPC has provided more that $360 million to Iran’s integrated forex trading system – known as NIMA – during the first six months of the current Persian year.
